In 2026, the Romans will travel to the Veluwe. At Zandsculpturen Garderen, the entire exhibition is dedicated to the Roman Empire. More than one hundred sand sculptures bring to life a world of emperors and gladiators, legionaries, craftsmen, merchants, and ordinary citizens living along the borders of the vast empire.

The route leads you past impressive scenes, informative displays, and surprising details for young and old alike.

The exhibition can be seen from March 2026 up to and including the Christmas holidays of 2027 at De Beeldentuin in Garderen.

Winter in the Fortress is a charming winter event in the historic fortified town of Elburg, inspired by the year 1900. Our beautiful old town provides the perfect backdrop, and as you wander through the streets and alleys, there is always something to see or experience.

The event is brought to life by the residents, many of whom dress in the style of 1900. One may be wearing a beautiful Victorian dress, while another is dressed as a poor vagabond. There is plenty of entertainment, including music, dancing and theatre. And of course, we have not forgotten about food and drinks. Warm up by one of the many fire pits with a glass of mulled wine, hot chocolate or one of the many other delicious treats.

The market is filled with atmospheric stalls. And, of course, the children have not been forgotten either! Let them soar on the nostalgic carousel or enjoy a ride on a real steam train.
